This is my neighborhood! Why I love living here there are so many reasons. Canadian Heights is located in Yukon, Oklahoma. Our well established addition has large mature trees and we are walking distance to the Yukon Community Center, Chisholm Trail Park and Freedom Trail Playground. Close to the turn pike and interstate. They are nature trails and boot walking trails that cover over a hundred acres. There is a lookout peak on the top of boot hill. The park features picnic tables, playground, Nature trail, basketball Court, Baseball fields, Football fields, tennis court, pond, Walking/Jogging trails, Horseshoe Courts, Sand Volleyball. They are two Gazebo, one small and large. You can rent them for company parties and weddings. You can fish at the pond or off the dock, spend the day grilling and enjoy the beauty of nature.
Each year the first Saturday in May we have the festival of the Child. Yukon’s Festival of the child is a one- day outdoor event designed to celebrate children. Enjoy celebrating the magic of childhood in a safe and well-coordinated atmosphere. This annual event promotes wholesome and creative experiences for the whole family. Over 50 different activities for children 12 and younger. Over 3000 visitors come and enjoy the celebration. 200 volunteers come together to make this day exciting for the children of our community. This is one of Yukon’s top events. The festival features a vast array of activities including storytelling, art, workshops, balloon animals, magic show, wood art and a Festival Fun Zone featuring a slide, mini golf, moon bounce and an obstacle course. Kids love the rock wall, or allow them to try their hand at kayaking or archery. Pony rides and an area specifically designed for toddlers. They will have plenty to keep them entertained at Yukon’s Festival of the child. So bring your children and help us celebrate the gift of childhood.
This is also where Yukon’s Freedom Fest is in July. Our city celebrates the nation’s birthday with a huge Freedom Fest event. This event is free the celebration includes two nights of fireworks, displays, outdoor evening concerts, kid’s activities, parade, hot dog eating contest and more. The fun starts on the 4th with a full day of fun! Some of the other fun events are the Cherry Bomb Triathlon, Sand Art, Car show with live music, children’s parade, craft and paly area, BBQ cook off, Free Swim at the city pool, Free watermelon and ice cream. To top off the night the Oklahoma City Philharmonic in concert!
Of all the events Christmas in the park is my favorite. It is a Christmas wonderland. The opening of Christmas in the park start the holiday season off with so much Christmas cheer. Christmas in the park features over 5 million twinkling lights and 425 displays covering over 100 acres. You can drive or walk the park. You can ride Santa’s express train through this illuminated winter wonder land. After the train ride stop for some hot chocolate and snacks. My family goes many times though out the holiday season. The magic of Christmas comes alive as you walk through the park and see the true meaning of Christmas. You can take pictures with Rudolph and Frosty. Over 70,000 people attend each year. If you are on the adventurous side you can take an helicopter from Oklahoma City and fly over the park and view this spectacular view of the 5 millions lights.
As you can see Canadian Height Addition has so much to offer!
